Paintings use a different part of my brain than making books do. In that respect, I need to have these different experiences and actions to be whole. The subject matter of the paintings is explained in the same way that I make the prints.

The connection of most of these images is based on the fact that they are all wood, in one form or another. Trees are processed, cut down for other uses. Where once they existed as objects in nature, they are now a means to advance modern life by bringing electricity and communication to the masses (as telephone poles). As changes in the world occur, more timber is being processed from the trees, and the land that was once farms and forest is developed until it becomes unrecognizable. Housing (stud walls) sprout up everywhere.
