The monoprints are all about the action of doing. The act of making art and the act of experimenting with technique, layers, ink color and stencils in printmaking are a great part of the excitement of creating these works. The subject is an exploration of positive and negative shapes through the use of some basic images. They include bare tree branches, telephone poles and wires and buildings located in Provincetown. For the most part these images are treated as silhouetted figure/ shapes against a ground of color. But it is significant to note that the working of the figure and the working of the ground are both given equal measure. |
